Free Your Shoulders & Smart Twists, Safe Spine
A Two-Day Yoga Intensive for Mobility, Posture & Intelligent Movement
This two-day Iyengar-inspired workshop is all about learning how to move your body with more intelligence, ease, and respect—so your practice supports you for the long haul.
Over the weekend, we’ll explore how to create space in the upper body, restore healthy posture, and approach twisting in a way that is both stabilizing and freeing for the spine.
Day One: Free Your Shoulders
Imagine the feeling of un-shrugging your shoulders—of softening the tight grip around your upper back, chest, and neck. This session invites you to step out of the weight of tension and into a space of lightness, breath, and easeful movement.
Through mindful yoga, supported postures, and intentional use of props, we’ll explore how to create space in the shoulders and spine, restore healthy posture, and reconnect with a sense of openness in the body. Perfect for anyone feeling compressed by long hours at a desk, stress, or simply the pace of modern life.
Day Two: Smart Twists, Safe Spine
Twists can be nourishing and clarifying—or, if done without support, they can feel crunchy and unstable. In this session, we’ll break down the mechanics of twisting so you can move from a place of stability, length, and awareness.
You’ll learn how to recruit the legs, core, and breath to support the spine, how to modify poses for your body, and how to experience twists as spacious and grounding rather than forceful. The focus is on moving well, not moving more.
What to Expect:
An Iyengar-inspired sequence focusing on shoulders, chest, and upper back
Clear, step-by-step instruction to help you move with intelligence and awareness

Postural tips and takeaways you can bring into everyday life (desk, driving, standing)

What to Bring:
Your yoga mat
Optional: a small towel
notebook for any personal notes
An open mind and curiosity about how your body moves
Janet has been practicing and teaching yoga for over 10 years. As her body and life have changed, her approach to practice has evolved too—honoring that the way we move should adapt with us. While she still loves movement and flow, her teaching now emphasizes subtle strength, intelligent alignment, and moving in ways that support the body for the long term. This curiosity about how we can move well, with ease and awareness, is at the heart of both her personal practice and the way she guides her students.
