Kula कुल

Literal meaning: family, clan, tribe, or community.

  • Deeper meaning in yoga & tantra: It refers to a community of the heart — people who come together with shared intention, practice, and connection.

  • In yogic philosophy, kula also carries the sense of belonging, support, and spiritual kinship that extends beyond blood relations.

In the context of a yoga studio, Kula beautifully expresses the idea that the studio is not just a place to practice, but a community where people come as they are and support one another in growth, healing, and connection.

WHO WE ARE:

Kula Yoga is a non-heated yoga studio, located in the heart of Glendale, Arizona.

We are privately owned and operated, making our studio feel like a place you call your second home.

We offer various classes for all individuals to explore their practice regardless of their experience level. You can find more details about our classes on the CLASS DESCRIPTION page.

Our mission is to offer the practice of yoga to our community in a way that meets you where you are. We have a ‘come-as-you-are’ policy and believe all yoga is good yoga, and you can’t be ‘bad’ at it.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Kula Yoga honors the layers of yoga that go beyond the mat. When you practice with us, you can expect to not only enjoy a physical practice, but also experience meditation, pranayama (breath practices), yoga principles, ethics, and other supportive practices woven in.

Our instructors are certified, qualified, and passionate about guiding you through your practice.

We provide all the props you might need or want for your practice, so all you need to bring is yourself and a mat if you have one (if not, you can borrow one of ours).

Some of our instructors offer individual adjustments and cues, which may be verbal or gentle, physical assists. If you do not feel comfortable with that, please let the instructor know before class.

IMPORTANT NOTE: To ensure a safe and respectful environment for all, our studio doors lock once class begins. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early, as late entry is not permitted

YOGA ETIQUETTE

To be able to offer the classes and experience we know you expect, we ask that you take a moment to review our studio etiquette.

Plan to arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled class start. This will give you time to get checked in, have your belongings stored, your mat rolled out, and grab whatever props might be needed before class begins.

NO CELL PHONES in the studio. We offer cubbies you can use to keep your items secure. Let this be a time for you to disconnect from the outer world so you can reconnect to your inner world.

Be kind and courteous. We’re all here together, and you never know what others may be going through. Yoga is a practice that can be healing and transformative. Kula Yoga is a space where we can all feel comfortable to do so.
